13UAAA Brings Home Silver!

Congratulations to our 13UAAA team as they bring home the silver medal from provincials this week and win a berth to the Western National Championship in Fort McMurray August 16-20th.

What an amazing weekend of baseball. The Sun Devils upset one of the top seeds in their pool, and eliminated second seed Cloverdale in the semi finals to earn their trip to Fort Mac. Emma Lecompte and Blayz Wilson were 2nd team all-stars and Ryan Swift was selected as a first team all-star.

The semi-final game began with a few errors by the Sun Devils and the Cloverdale Rangers taking the lead 5-1 in the third inning. With grit and tenacity the Kelowna Sun Devils tacked on 2 in each of the 4th and 5th innings which made it a tie game heading into the 6th. Typical 13U AAA games see 7 innings of play, however this game remained tied heading in the 9th inning. At the top of our order, Wyatt hit a line drive to right field, Cloverdale intentionally walked Giroday, and Misfeldt grounded into a fielder's choice, moving a runner to third base. Lecompte was then hit by a pitch leaving the bases loaded with 1 out. Smith approached the plate and after a 9 pitch at bat, drew the walk to drive in the winning run. With the bases still loaded, Gilbert hit a rocket line drive to the first baseman who made a great catch and stepped on first to complete the double play.

Congratulations to all players and coaches on a very successful weekend.
